Did THIS Just Make Me Ditch the Bronco Soft Top for Good? | EZ4x4 Flip Top Review & Install
Did the EZ4x4 Flip Top Convert Me from Team Soft Top? Let’s Find Out.

If you know me, you know I’ve been Team Soft Top since Day One. I love the convenience, the quick drop-top feel, and honestly, it just fits my lifestyle—whether I’m cruising the beach or hitting the trails. But recently, something came across my radar that made me stop and think… could a hard top mod actually give me that same open-air freedom I love?

While I was at SEMA 2024, I came across a company called EZ4x4, and they were showing off their new Flip Top for the Ford Bronco hard top. Since then, I’ve been hearing more buzz about them—and I finally got my hands on one to install on my 2-door Bronco. The real question: is this the mod that could change my mind?

What Is the  EZ4x4 Flip Top?

The EZ4x4 Two Panel Flip Top for Ford Bronco Hard Tops is an add-on for your factory Bronco hard top that turns your front two roof panels into a true flip-open convertible-style roof. No more removing panels and finding a place to store them. Just flip it open, feel the sun, and hit the road.

For 4-door Bronco owners, they’ve even have a roof rack system that holds the middle section and front panels securely. You can also combine this with the flip top for a complete hard top convertible system. On top of that, they offer accessories like door carts, door alignment pins, a hard top remover, and their Flip Trunk—all of which we carry at buckleupoffroad.com.

The Install: Easy, No Drilling Required (Unless You Want To)

For my install, I went with the 3M tape option—no drilling into the hard top. I know the strength of 3M when surfaces are prepped correctly, and honestly, I didn’t feel great about drilling right off the bat. EZ4x4 does include hardware if you prefer to bolt it down for extra peace of mind.

First Impressions on the Road

After letting the adhesive cure for 24 hours, it was time for the test drive. The panels flipped back smoothly, locked in securely, and gave me that open-air feel I love without having to remove or store anything. I took it out on the highway and—nothing. No whistles, no rattles, no drama. It was as quiet and solid as stock panels.

One thing to note: if you park your Bronco in the garage like I do, double check your clearance with the Flip Top open. I’ve been known to test garage heights the hard way (RIP soft top), and this hard top won’t flex like fabric does. Take precautions!

Final Thoughts: Did It Convert Me?

I’ll be honest… I still love my soft top, but this Flip Top gave me a whole new appreciation for the hard top. The convenience, the clean look, and the fact that I can have it open in seconds makes it a total game-changer—especially for days out with the jet skis or family adventures.

If you live in a colder climate, I’d recommend waiting for a warm, dry day to install—give that 3M a good surface to bond. Surface prep is everything with this install, so don’t cut corners there.

If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the best of both worlds—hard top durability with soft top convenience—this might just be the best Ford Bronco mod you’ve never tried.

You can get the EZ4x4 Flip Top and all their accessories now at Buckle Up Off-Road.

Until next time—Buckle Up Buttercup 💛
