The Worst Feature on the Ford Bronco, F-150, Ranger, & Bronco Sport – And How to Fix It!

The Worst Feature on the Ford Bronco, F-150, Ranger, & Bronco Sport – And How to Fix It!

Let’s talk about the worst feature on the Ford Bronco—the one thing I absolutely hate the most. And trust me, there’s nothing you can say to convince me otherwise.

I’m just out for a nice joyride, enjoying the road, and then BAM—stop sign. That’s when the Auto Start-Stop feature kicks in, and my Bronco shuts off. The Ford Performance Calibration Used to Fix This... But Not Anymore

Back in the day, this wasn’t such a big deal for a lot of Bronco owners because many of us upgraded with the Ford Performance Calibration. This tune unlocked a bunch of new features, and one of its best hidden perks was that if you turned off Auto Start-Stop, it stayed off until you turned it back on.

But guess what? That feature is GONE.

I already had the Ford Performance Calibration installed on my two-door Bronco, and now, it no longer works the way it used to. It’s frustrating because I’m so used to not having to press that button in my four-door Broncos—but every time I get into my two-door, I have to turn it off manually. And yeah, it’s a small thing, but it’s one of those annoying little features that gets under my skin.

So, since Ford isn't solving my problem anymore, it's time to find a better solution.

The AutoStop Eliminator – The Fix You Need

If you’ve been following my Bronco journey for years, you might remember when I first found a solution to this (Click here to watch the old video.) Way back before Ford Performance offered a calibration—or any other option—I was frustrated and started Googling solutions. That’s when I found the Auto Stop Eliminator, and let me tell you, it worked flawlessly. I tested it, ran it for a long time, and had zero issues.

So now, I’m going back to what works. We’re installing it on my two-door Bronco today, and let me tell you—this install is insanely easy.

How to Install the Auto Stop Eliminator

Of course, I have an install video, but this is a super simple install, and I’ll walk you through it step by step. If you want to grab one for yourself, we have them available at Buckle Up Off-Road —and they’re not just for the Bronco! I also carry them for the Ranger, Bronco Sport, and F-150.

Here’s how to install it:

  1. Remove the handle near the control area.

  2. Pop off the panel underneath the control area.

  3. Lower the driver-side kick panels (just give them a little tug).

  4. Open the glove box and locate the 7mm bolt—loosen it.

  5. Find the same size bolt on the driver’s side and remove it.

  6. Locate the wire connected to the Auto Start-Stop button and unclip it.

  7. Plug in the Auto Stop Eliminator adapter—one end connects to the wire, and the other goes to the harness.

  8. Zip tie it up neatly, or just let it hang in place.

  9. Reassemble everything—and you’re done!

Told you it was that easy!

Does It Work? Let’s Test It!

Now for the real test. I turned on my Bronco, hit the Auto Start-Stop button to turn it off, then turned off the ignition. When I started it back up—boom, it remembered the last setting! No more turning it off every time I drive.

Will This Void Your Warranty?

Nope! This won’t mess with your warranty at all. But if you’re still worried, you can easily uninstall it before heading to the dealership.

Can You Turn Auto Start-Stop Back On?

Yes! The Auto Stop Eliminator remembers the last setting. So if you ever decide you actually want Auto Start-Stop back on—I don’t know why you would, but hey, to each their own—you can just hit the button again, and it’ll stay on until you turn it off.

Final Thoughts – The Best Mod for Bronco Owners

If you hate Auto Start-Stop as much as I do, this is a no-brainer mod. It’s affordable, it’s easy to install, and it just makes driving the Bronco better.

You can grab yours at Buckle Up Off-Road  and say goodbye to this annoying feature for good!
