Installing the Grimm Off-Road ARB Compressor Mount for Easier Air-Ups!

If you take your Ford Bronco off-road, you know how important it is to air down your tires for better traction. But what about airing back up? That’s where having an onboard air compressor makes a huge difference. In this post, I’ll walk you through why I upgraded to the Grimm Off-Road ARB Twin Compressor Mount, how the install went, and how it performed on the trails.

Why Upgrade to the Grimm Off-Road Compressor Mount?

I’ve had an ARB twin air compressor under the hood of my Bronco for a while, and while it’s been incredibly useful, I started noticing a major issue—the Quick Connect fitting would get extremely hot during use. If you’ve ever aired up four tires in a row, you know these compressors generate a ton of heat. The Grimm Off-Road mount solves this by relocating the Quick Connect, keeping it away from the main heat source and making it much safer and easier to use.

Another huge benefit of this mount is how it tucks the compressor neatly under the hood. My old setup had the compressor more exposed, but this design keeps everything secure and out of the way while still being easy to access. The mount comes with all the necessary wiring, which is great for those who don’t have the aux switch package in their Bronco. Since I already have aux switches, I wired mine directly, but it’s awesome that Grimm Off-Road includes everything you need for a complete install.

Installing the Compressor Mount

Installing the Grimm Off-Road mount was straightforward, and I had it in place quickly. The kit includes everything needed to relocate the ARB compressor and set up the new Quick Connect position. Once installed, I immediately noticed how much cleaner the engine bay looked compared to my previous setup. With everything mounted and wired up, it was time to put it to the test.

Hitting the Trails with the Broncos

With Buttercup ready to go, we took both the 2-door and 4-door Broncos off-road for some fun. The 2-door Bronco recently got new wheels and bigger tires, making it even more capable on the trails. It handled the terrain well, but after some high-speed jumps, we quickly discovered the limitations of the stock suspension—the front tires made contact with the fenders, causing some unexpected damage.

As if that wasn’t enough, Jim had an unfortunate encounter with a bird that took out his side mirror, and I managed to do something dumb to my taillight. But hey, at least we got the damage out of the way early! Despite these setbacks, we had an absolute blast, and the new setup on the 2-door Bronco proved its worth.

Final Thoughts: Was the Upgrade Worth It?

At the end of the day, it was time to air back up, and the Grimm Off-Road mount worked flawlessly. The relocated Quick Connect made the process much easier, and I didn’t have to worry about burning my fingers like before. If you take your Bronco off-road, an onboard ARB twin compressor is a must-have, and this mount makes it even better.
